Help For Windows

We have tested this program on these systems.

  • Windows 98
  • Windows XP

We will post troubleshooting tips here as we learn of them.

Problem: My display changes resolution or other appearance when you launch the program on Windows XP.

Solution: Right click the program icon and choose Properties. Choose the Compatibility tab of the properties dialog. Deselect all compatibility options and press OK.

Problem: Even at the slowest speed and at any tone pitch setting, and with just one tap on the speed or tone slider, I am hearing an irregular crackling sound, definitely not "key clicks." And I hear it on my computer speakers, with only one or with both turned on.

Solution: Right click on the morse.exe file, choose "Properties" from the drop down menu and selected Compatibility. Then under Compatibility Mode Select Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5), followed by Apply and OK. For at least one user this has made the tones perfectly clear.

Problem: The program seems to be stuck on 0. That is when the 0 is sounded out the first time and I correctly hit the key, the program goes on to another letter. From then on, the program doesn’t recognize the 0 ever again. So I get these long strings of zeros interspaced every once in while with one of the first four characters.

Solution: I went to the help screen and looked at the recommendations again. Then I set Compatibility Mode Select Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 2000. That solved the issue.
