Doug Engelbart invents innovative control devices like the mouse and chord keyboard. His intention: augmenting the human intellect.

1972

Ben Shneiderman invents an area-dividing notation for computer programs that exploits properties of structured programming and encourages top-down design.

1976

Ward Cunningham creates an interactive editor for Ben's notation on an Imlac PDS-1 computer using Doug's control devices. The experience informs all his future work.

2011

This site openly exhibits both Ward's program and the tools used to restore it. The hope is that other programs will become similarly available.
