Andrew is a Professor at Portland State University. His home page is at http://www.cs.pdx.edu/~black . He is one of the workshop organizers.
This workshop grew out of a paper that Andrew and DanielVainsencher wrote describing some Patterns for extensible program representation (http://web.cecs.pdx.edu/ ... elExtensions.pdf). This in turn grew out of their efforts to modularize a somewhat time-consuming program analysis that was originally embedded in a particular code browser, but which (we realized) ought to be decoupled from that specific tool so that it could be reused in other tools.
What do I hope to contribute to and get out of this workshop? I would like to expose these patterns to a wider community, learn about their deficiencies and inadequacies, and bring more brains to the task of improving them. I am also interested in learning about other approaches to solving this class of problem.
