July 1, 2002--I'm afraid I'll have to add another "aka" to the list. Ariel changed her name yet again. It seems that her maternal grandmother immigrated from Germany with the last name "Kohn". However, in Germany the name was "Cohen". Apparently they decided to "Germanicize" the name to hide their Jewish identity. Ariel has now changed her name officially to "Barb Ariel Cohen". |

Ariel's new ham callsign is K9ERA. I recall how, at Purdue how she lamented over the fact that she missed out on "Equal Rights Amendment" by a few letters of the alphabet. So years later I surprised her by submitting a vanity call application for "ERA" ;-) |
