Current Operating Activity

---

• I've always run modest stations and prefer modes and operations that work well within those constraints. Here is the setup I'm currently using psk31.
  
• Take a photographic tour of my radio stations. Unlike the usual walls of equipment these operating positions are simple and comfortable.
• I've modified the Visual Basic program distributed with the pskcore.dll to log transcripts of contacts as they happen. Here is a block diagram of web31, the setup I use to publish these recent contacts.
• Both of my boys have become hams with only modest encouragement from their jamboree scout master wa7urv. Pat is kd7mpa and Chris is kd7mpe. You can see who's form arrived at the fcc on top. I won't say who finished their exam first or who missed the most questions.
• I run a simplex IRLP node on 2m. It's web page explains more about this new vhf mode.

Amateur Radio Training

• The Morse Code Teaching Machine introduces the Morse alphabet without ever going too fast or too slow. It is now available in source or binary for the PC and source for various other computers.
  
• Broadcast code practice for no-code hams with the Air Morse station controller available as a HyperCard stack for the Macintosh.
• Amateur radio licensing and operating Simulation used at a one-day introduction at a Boy Scout merit badge weekend.
• Interactively browse through the question pools for each of the ham radio licenses.

Historical Ham Programs

• This Morse Code Encoder/Decoder would buffer both send and received data and display the size of the queues as a bar-graph in the computer's lights. The package includes the PDP-8 simulator I used to assemble the program a CDC6000 super computer.
  
• The SuperDuper Field-Day dupe checker written in PL/M for use with an ASR terminal or equivalent. This program survived power-failures and other field conditions experienced by W9YB in 1977. Note its unique ability to squeeze a ham call sign into a little over 16 bits.
  
• This Autopatch Repeater Controller was written as five parallel tasks running a Motorola 6800. I understand it is still running the .73 machine at Purdue and possibly machines elsewhere.
  
• I simulated a computer controled Automated Traffic Net while in college and turned the results in for an A in both a simulation class and a networking class.
