English Ivy

Many of the trees in our wetland are under attach of invasive English Ivy.

The NoIvyLeague fights ivy in ForrestPark and encourages its removal throughout Oregon.

Inspired by the league, we've stepped up our attack on ivy in the trees along the trail to the pond. Until now our only ivy eradication has been restricted to ivy mixed in with blackberries during our initial clearing of the headquarters property.

Our current approach is to cut ivy vines at a convenient height and either leave them to die in place or pull the vines from the tree contributing the debris to the trail bed.

We're able to cut most vines with hand pruning shears though in one case we used a pruning saw.
