This CdS cell is located on the workbench next to the arduino running SensorServer. The desklamp shines directly on it so that will produce the highest values.

This moisture detector is constructed from fabric stretched between brass support which also serve as contacts. The conductance of the wet fabric pulls against a 100k resistor to ground.

We're indirectly measuring the ac line voltage through a 12 volt ac wall transformer, a resistive voltage divider, half-wave rectifier and rc filter with time constant of about 1 second. (more)

This is our first-ever one-wire device. It sits in the mini prototyping socket used by the usb version of the arduino software. Current placement has it on the bench, in the basement, near the window.

Merlin lives in the lower level where it can get a little chilly. We monitor his cage temperature to make sure he stays healthy.
